The SkeenaWild Film & Photo Festival is back!

We are delighted to announce the much-anticipated return of the Film & Photo Festival this year.

 

The SWFF celebrates original short films, features, youth films, and photographs submitted by Northern B.C. residents and people from around the world who love exploring this incredible melting pot of stories, visions and perspectives that shines a light on the wonder of the Skeena Watershed.

Showcasing Homegrown Content

Our cornerstone community outreach event is where we showcase our local talent. Each year SWFF continues to grow in submissions and participation at events in communities across BC.

 

So we’re calling on all professionals, amateurs, and everyone in between — now is your chance to show the Skeena Watershed through your lens.

How it works:

  • Start by submitting your photo (limit of 3) or/and film here before Oct. 1st, 2023.
  • Once all projects are received, finalist selection will begin. All selected finalists will be contacted by mid-October.
  • SWFF will be shown in Terrace, BC, and participants vote on their favourite films and photos. A group of judges representing Skeena communities selects the finalists from all photo and video entries. Community votes are tallied after the tour, and all the winners will be announced in December. Cash prizes for the winner of each category.

 

We’d be thrilled to see your artistic touch at our festival, so get your finest work in by October 1st, 2023, and let’s make this festival an incredible celebration of where we call home and creativity together.

Province Cancels 1.35 Million Acres of Conservation Lands in Northwest B.C. Without Consultation

Between 2019 to 2020, the provincial government cancelled over 1.3 million acres (nearly double the size of Metro Vancouver) of land designated under the Provincial Land Act for conservation and recreational use in northwest B.C. that residents hold dear. These cancellations put valued habitats at risk of being removed from public lands, logged or impacted by industrial development, including popular recreational areas such as Klinger Lake, Tyee Mountain, Atlin, and the Stewart estuaries.
