SkeenaWild Executive Director Greg Knox outlines this season’s preliminary salmon and steelhead outlook across the North Coast, Skeena and other tributaries in Northwest B.C. Follow future updates on current conditions to give you up-to-date information on the actual returns we’re seeing
The information in the video is provided by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, First Nations fisheries programs throughout the Skeena watershed Nisga’a fisheries and the Nass and the provincial government as well.
As always, with nature, things can change quickly; we encourage everybody to make sure if you’re going to go fishing to check the fishing regulations with DFO and the province to ensure you have the most up-to-date information.

*August 14th Update*
Conditions can change quickly, and with more rain through the end of last week, the Skeena and many of its tributaries saw rapid increases in water levels on August 13th & 14th, bringing levels up to or above long-term averages in those systems. While those levels may settle over the next week as the water moves through, we are happy to see some relief for migrating salmon. In particular, water temperatures have also cooled in many rivers to more optimal temperatures for migrating salmon (generally below 16 degrees C).
